The SPEEDPLAY Platform

  • Zero. Comp. Nano. Aero. Power. Five pedals. One platform. Each with four independent areas of adjustment, allowing you to make your fit yours.
  • Efficient Power

SPEEDPLAY transfers power more efficiently by removing material between the foot and the spindle to reduce system stack height and reward every effort, big or small.

    FAQ

What is the difference between SPEEDPLAY COMP, ZERO, AERO, and NANO pedals?

All four share the same dual-sided SPEEDPLAY engagement system and adjustable float; they differ in materials and weight. COMP (€119.99, chromoly spindle, 232g) is the everyday entry point. ZERO (€199.99, stainless steel, 222g) is race-ready with no rider weight limit. AERO (€279.99, 224g) adds a dimpled aerodynamic body with single-sided entry for time trial and triathlon use. NANO (€449.99, titanium spindle, 168g) is the featherweight podium option, rated for riders up to 82kg (180lb). Compare the full lineup on the SPEEDPLAY pedals page.

Which SPEEDPLAY pedals are best for beginners?

SPEEDPLAY COMP is the best starting point. It ships with Easy Tension cleats, which use light-action springs so clipping in and out takes less force, and its dual-sided design means there is no wrong side of the pedal to find at a stoplight. As your riding progresses, the cleats and fit you learn on COMP carry over to every other SPEEDPLAY pedal, including the SPEEDPLAY POWER power meter pedals.

Will SPEEDPLAY pedals work with my cycling shoes?

Yes. Every SPEEDPLAY pedal is compatible with both standard 3-bolt road shoes (using the included adapter) and 4-bolt shoes (direct mount). The 4-bolt direct mount lowers stack height from 11.5mm to about 8.5mm, putting your foot closer to the spindle for a more connected feel. See the cleat compatibility guide to check your shoes before ordering.

Do I need power meter pedals?

If you train with structured workouts, follow a training plan, or want to measure progress objectively, power is the most reliable metric in cycling because it is unaffected by wind, gradient, or fatigue-related heart rate drift. SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals build a power meter into the pedal body, so they install on any bike in minutes and move between bikes just as easily, unlike crank or hub-based meters. They pair with any ELEMNT bike computer and all major training apps.

    The SPEEDPLAY System

What makes SPEEDPLAY different from other road bike pedals?

Three things: dual-sided entry, adjustable float, and a low stack height. Most road pedals are single-sided, so you have to flip the pedal to clip in; SPEEDPLAY's lollipop design (COMP, ZERO, NANO and both POWER models) lets you engage either side instantly. Float is micro-adjustable from 0 to 15 degrees rather than fixed by cleat choice. And the thin pedal body keeps your foot close to the axle, improving stability and cornering clearance of up to 39 degrees.

What is float, and how do I adjust it on SPEEDPLAY pedals?

Float is the degree your heel can pivot while clipped in. Some float protects knees from the stress of a fixed position; too much can feel vague. Most pedal systems make you choose float by buying different cleats. SPEEDPLAY cleats are micro-adjustable from 0 to 15 degrees with independent control of inward and outward rotation, so you can dial in exactly the range your knees need. Setup steps are in the pedal support center.

What is the difference between Standard Tension and Easy Tension cleats?

Standard Tension cleats hold the foot with full-strength spring engagement, the right choice for racing and hard efforts out of the saddle. Easy Tension cleats use light-action springs that reduce the force needed to clip in and out, ideal for new riders, riders with knee concerns, or anyone who prioritizes easy exit. Both versions fit every current SPEEDPLAY pedal, and both are walkable with the integrated cleat surround.

Can I walk in SPEEDPLAY cleats?

Yes. Current SPEEDPLAY cleats have an integrated rubberized surround that covers the metal engagement hardware, so you can walk into a cafe without skating on metal. For longer time off the bike, snap-on cleat covers protect the cleat mechanism from grit and wear. Keeping dirt out of the cleat springs is the single best thing you can do to keep engagement crisp.

    SPEEDPLAY POWER Pedals

    Should I choose single-sided or dual-sided power?

SPEEDPLAY POWER SINGLE (€549.99) measures power from the left pedal and doubles it, which is accurate enough for consistent training at a lower price. SPEEDPLAY POWER DUAL (€799.99) measures each leg independently, giving true total power plus left/right balance data, valuable for bike fitting, injury rehabilitation, and riders whose balance shifts under fatigue. If you are buying your first power meter primarily to train with zones, SINGLE does the job; data-focused riders should choose DUAL.

How accurate are SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals?

SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals are accurate to +/-1%, in line with the best power meters at any price. An internal gyroscope measures true cadence rather than estimating it, and automatic temperature compensation keeps readings stable as conditions change mid-ride, whether that is a mountain descent or a hot indoor session on a KICKR trainer.

What is the battery life, and how do they charge?

SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals run up to 75 hours per charge on a built-in rechargeable battery, so there are no coin cells to replace. For most riders that is one to two months of training between charges. LED indicators on the pedal show battery, power, and connection status at a glance.

Do SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals work with Zwift, ELEMNT, and Garmin bike computers?

Yes. SPEEDPLAY POWER pedals broadcast over multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections and unlimited ANT+ connections, so they pair with ELEMNT bike computers, Garmin and other ANT+ head units, and apps like Zwift and Wahoo SYSTM at the same time. You can record a ride on your head unit while Zwift reads the same pedals, with no re-pairing. They work with standard and oval chainrings and install on any bike with standard crank threads.
